The Pioneer Credit Union Difference

What is Pioneer Credit Union?

Like all credit unions, Pioneer is a not-for-profit financial institution owned by the people who do business there. The "customers" are called members because they are the owners. Pioneer has eleven offices in Northeast Wisconsin.

What does "Not-For-Profit" mean, and how does it help me?

Because you own the credit union, any "profit" that is made is returned to the members in the form of higher interest rates on savings, lower loan rates, more services, and a stronger place to do business. By law, the credit union exists only to serve you!

Who can join Pioneer?

To qualify, you must live or work in Brown, Door, Kewaunee, Shawano, Manitowoc, Oconto, Outagamie, Marinette, or Calumet counties of Wisconsin. Once you become a member, you can remain a member for life, no matter where you live or work.

Must I work at a certain company to join?

No. Many credit unions, Pioneer included, have been granted approval to serve whole counties.

How do I become a member?

If you qualify for membership, the next step is to contact one of our offices to open a savings account and maintain a $5 minimum balance. You can contact our offices by calling (920) 494-2828 in Green Bay or 1-800-728-4294 and asking to speak to a Relationship Manager. Or if you prefer, you can email us at pioneer@pioneercu.org and let us know you are interested in becoming a member of Pioneer Credit Union. One of our Relationship Managers will contact you during business hours. Of course, you are always welcome to stop in at any of our locations and meet with one of our Relationship Managers in person! Opening a savings account is easy and quick. You will need your SSN, identification, and about 10 minutes.

Is my money safe at Pioneer?

Absolutely! Every account is insured to at least $250,000 by the NCUA, an agency of the Federal government.

Does Pioneer only offer loans and savings accounts?

No. Pioneer offers a complete line of financial services, usually at a reduced cost. Our services can meet virtually every financial need you may have.

Someone told me credit unions offer payroll deduction. What is that?

Payroll deduction is nothing more than having all or part of your paycheck automatically sent to the credit union and put in whatever account you want. You decide which accounts it will be deposited into and how much goes into each. In addition, this information is confidential between you and Pioneer.

Why is a credit union better?

Since you own Pioneer, our only goal is to better serve you. We believe in the credit union philosophy of "PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE" and invite you to experience the credit union difference.
